Attorney Soulsby worked at the General Assembly from 1976 until 1981, serving as an Intern to Representative Gerald Stevens, (Minority Leader), in 1976, and subsequently as the Clerk of the Transportation and Judiciary Committees. In 1981 he became the Legal Counsel to the Connecticut Motor Transport Association, and in 1982 moved on to become an Assistant State's Attorney. Peter served from 1982 until 1995 as a Prosecutor at the G. A. 15 Superior Court in New Britain. He was appointed Legislative Liaison for the State's Attorney's Bargaining Unit in 1989 and held that position until his retirement from state service in 1995.
In 1995, Attorney Soulsby joined M. Hatcher, ("Reese"), Norris at the law firm of Butler, Norris and Gold in Hartford. He became a Partner there in 2001, and remained with the firm until 2008 handling criminal defense matters with multiple trials to final verdict, (and only one loss in thirteen years)!
In 2008, Attorney Soulsby opened his own practice in Marlborough, CT, now known as The Soulsby Law Firm, LLC. A satellite office is located in Berlin, CT. Further information can be obtained by going to "soulsbylegal.com."
Peter is a member in good standing of the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, (CCDLA); the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, (NACDL; the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, (CTLA); the Hartford County Bar Association, (HCBA) and is currently the President of the Greater New Britain Bar Association, (GNBBA). He is also Legal Counsel to and Board of Directors Member of "Bogies for the Brave" a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that benefits post 9 / 11 veterans and their families.
Attorney Soulsby is an avid motorcyclist and sailor in addition to being a former League Champion Pool player!
