Hon. Kevin A. Randolph (ret.) served on the Connecticut Superior Court bench for 19 years ... retiring in 2025. In 2024, he received national and international attention as his role as the trial judge in the matter of State of Connecticut v. Michelle Troconis, a six week murder trial carried by the Law and Crime Network and Court TV.
He's a graduate of Western England College School of Law where he was a member of the national moot court team. He has a Master of Science degree in Telecommunications (Radio and Television) from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University where he majored in Spanish.
Before his nomination as a judge he was a public defender from 1990-1995. He also ran a solo practice from 1996-2006 where he tried seven capital felony/ death penalty/ death eligible cases to verdict. Those trials included the seminal case of State of Connecticut v. Eduardo Santiago, the case in which the Connecticut Supreme Court held the death penalty unconstitutional. He was also a member of the Federal Criminal Justice Advisory Committee in the early 2000s and a member of the CJA panel from 1997 to 2006. During that time he was also designated "learned counsel" for capital cases in the District of Connecticut and chaired the reappointment committee for Magistrate Judge Thomas Smith.
Randolph grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He is admitted to the bar of the State of Connecticut, the State of New York, the District of Connecticut, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He is the host of the podcast "We have a verdict . . ." available on major platforms.
